Once you've gotten to know the hobbyDB system a bit by adding a bunch of Price Points, new UPCs, or Images as a Contributor, it's time to decide if you would like to also become a Creator so you can add or edit Database Items and Subjects!

We are particularly keen to welcome more Creators for segments where we have sparse data (for example, Decoys or Steiff Teddy Bears versus say Hard Rock Cafe pins or Funko POP!s).

Four Simple Steps to Get Started as a New Creator!

We suggest trying all of your new powers and see which one is best for what you collect:

  1. Read the Database Items Conventions (very important since we want to keep database entries consistent).

  2. Find out if there is specific guidance for your area of interest (you will find that here).

  3. Learn how to add new Database Items, including Variants and Subvariants.

  4. Learn how to add a new Subject (please study the Subject Guidelines).

While this might sound like a lot, it's quite manageable with the short Help pages (and we do want you to get this right, so please contact us if you have any questions!). We also ask you to send your first 2 or 3 Database Items to us for some early feedback. It is much better to coordinate early than to have to change many entries later!
