This article helps our Volunteer Squad keep the database clean and consistent! It pertains to members who have Creator access and above. If you're interested in getting involved, read more about joining the Squad here. We'd love to have you aboard!

When creating subjects, you will have the opportunity to create/select a Parent Subject that will help members with navigating and browsing the database. A Parent Subject helps relate to other subjects that are a higher level in the hierarchy of potential categories. Basically, parent subjects help members browse up the relevant subject tree and widen their search.

Mariano Rivera plays for the New York Yankees and the Team is his Parent Subject

Here are some more examples -

  • For a Series, it will be the Brand that makes the series (but if it is, for example, a series of Freddy Mercury pins they can also be added to the Freddie Mercury subject)

  • For a driver, it will be their racing team (or possibly the 3 teams he drove for)

  • For a designer, it will be the brand that they worked for.
