This article helps our Volunteer Squad keep the database clean and consistent! It pertains to members who have the Champion role and above. The plan is to give this tool to Contributors and above soon.

If you're interested in getting involved, read more about joining the Squad here. We'd love to have you aboard!

Squad Members can request eBay data in two ways and you will find both pages on the Curation Dashboard.

1. Get eBay Data Once

The Get eBay Data (here button 1) enables to get data added to the Workbench and has the four values to set:

  1. Search Keywords. Be specific as it will search eBay Sold Items just by those. "Hasbro Black Series Star Wars" is good, "Corgi" on its own might not work as well if you want to get Corgi Toys and not Corgi-showing dog postcards...

  2. Database Item Type. This makes further work easy. Chose the most likely type (you can always change the type for data in the Workbench)

  3. Brand.  This helps finding items in Manage Database Items table and if creating new Database Items (this field is optional but generally recommended

  4. Series.  This helps finding items in Manage Database Items table and if creating new Database Items (this field is optional and sometimes recommended

Data should appear in your Workbench almost immediately but Price Points will take a little bit longer.  You must wait until the Price Points arrive (you often need to check them to see if they are suitable to keep).

If you get an error message refresh the page and try again.  This tool is still Work-in-Progress, comments are welcome (please post in the Curation Matters Forum).

2. Get eBay Data Regularly

The Manage eBay Data Dashboard (above the button 2) lists all Database Items on hobbyDB. It allows to get eBay Price Points automatically, the frequency how often and what keywords should be use to match these Price Points against entries in the database. Here is an entry -

If a Database Item has a UPC or ISBN it gets sets automatically (as it is the best way to match). Otherwise be as specific as it will search eBay Sold Items just by those. "Hasbro Black Series Star Wars" is good, "Corgi" on its own might not work as well if you want to get Corgi Toys and not Corgi-showing dog postcards...  Please also make these active if you are willing to monitor results and assign them to the database.  You can change the default 72 hours to daily or weekly (but need to set in hours).

If you wanted to for example manage all Kidrobot Gorillaz Black Edition filter for the series and use the Batch Actions to assign all to you -
