UPC Codes can be added to Database Items via the Edit button and also inline using this button:

Even though barcode labels show spaces between some digits, barcode scanners read the code as a single string of numbers. When entering UPCs on Database Items, do not add any spaces or dashes.

The easiest way to find Database Items with no UPC is to go to the Manage Database Items page, filter for the type of items you want to update (brand, series, etc.), then click the No UPC scope button:

Other Barcodes

There are other types of barcodes that can also be added to Database Items:

  • 10 and 13 digit ISBNs (the Book Type has a field for them and we plan to have the app search for them as well)

  • Some retailers or brands such as some Hard Rock Cafe locations or the American retailer Hot Topic have their own proprietary barcode format. When you edit an item, there are specific fields for third party barcodes like in the image below:
